The ACI Foundation is pleased to announce the recipient of the newly expanded Middle East & North Africa Fellowship for the 2021-2022 academic award year.
Sarah Al Adgham is pursuing her master’s degree in materials engineering at Balamand University, Beirut, Lebanon. She received her bachelor’s degree in architecture and the built environment from Beirut Arab University, Beirut, Lebanon, and her master’s degree in construction management from Arizona State University, Tempe, AZ, USA. Al Adgham has interests in sustainable construction and has done research on bio-based and eco-friendly sustainable materials.
First awarded in 2019, the Middle East & North Africa Fellowship has expanded in the 2021-2022 academic award year and is now open to graduate students currently attending an institution in Algeria, Egypt, Iraq, Jordon, Lebanon, Morocco, Tunisia, in addition to previously eligible students studying in Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. The winning student receives a $10,000 USD in educational support, full funding to attend upcoming ACI Conventions, and more. Attending convention depends on health and travel restrictions.
Past winners of this award include Nancy Kachouh, a PhD student and research assistant in the Civil Engineering Department at the United Arab Emirates University, awarded in 2019. The Fellowship was awarded in 2020 to Siham Al Shanti, a graduate student in the Civil Engineering Department at the United Arab Emirates University.
ACI Foundation fellowship and scholarship awards are made possible through generous contributions by ACI, ACI chapters, corporate donors, and individuals within the concrete community.
